You may be drawn to Montalcino for its renown as the home of Brunello wines. But while you may be tempted to simply indulge in the vino, this small hilltop town has the perfect gelato.
Pick up a cone at Why Not? shortly after entering Montalcino— perhaps a hazelnut or classic coffee flavor? — and continue your way up through town. You’ll pass a small park on your right, and then, just ahead, slightly to the left, you’ll find a small overlook by a parking lot.
This small terrace offers an incredibly expansive view of the Tuscan valley you’ve traversed in getting to Montalcino, and is a perfectly peaceful setting to enjoy the last few bites of your cone.
